Current mood: busy
It’s been a busy day so far!
We left the house around 11:00 a.m., and went and met a friend/former coworker to give her the bedroom toys she ordered. Before we left, I got an email from another friend/former coworker who said she was coming with the other girl, and she wanted to order some stuff. So instead of picking up $45, I picked up $65. Then, I took Lola to Wendy’s to get some chicken nuggets. She hasn’t had any for over a month so she actually seemed to appreciate it as a treat.
Then, we went to the bank and deposited the checks I had, and then we went to the post office. There, we mailed my niece’s order (finally!). After that, we went to our town library. I signed up for a library card, and we checked out a few books. I got 4 books for Lola, and an Elmo video. I also got The Bonesetter’s Daughter by Amy Tan (I’ve heard this is good). I also checked out a book about raising a family on less than two incomes, and that book about Eating Right For your Body Type.
Lola was really good at the library, she loved it as I knew she would. She loved the pet Degus they had there. They are a kind of rodent (a cute rodent), and she loved watching them run around on the treadmill and eat with their little paws. Of course, she kept saying “Kitty Cat!” I had a moment of irritation, when I was trying to explain that they weren’t kitty cats, I didn’t want to try to explain about what a degu is, so I just said, “Sweetie, not a kitty — they are kind of like a mouse.” This guy comes up behind and says, “No, they are more like a chinchilla.” In a rude way. I turned to him and said, “Well, I think the word chinchilla is a little advanced for my 22 month old–she’s never even heard that word before so I don’t think she could make a connection. Anyway, a degu IS more like a mouse than a cat, wouldn’t you agree?” And he got this really insulting look on his face, like I am an idiot or something. Ugh. Dork. I try to teach my child new words, and after that I tried to teach her the word “degu” but she just kept saying kitty cat! She’s got it in her mind that it’s a kitty cat!! It’ll probably take additional visits to get that down correctly.
I think we will be going over to the library in the bigger town and checking out my Body Clutter book and the Saving Dinner books I wanted. Lola will not know what to do in that huge paradise of kiddie stuff!
I also got Princess’s library card, so she’s ready to go when she wants to.
I think we are going to start utilizing the nearby Libraries a great deal more. Books, of course. But they have a great selection of books on tape, videos/dvds, and groups and programs.
Well, I put some of my products on eB@y, and I only put up a few things. Some have bids, some don’t…most have people watching it. If I don’t make a decent amount on the items then I will probably not put the rest of my stuff on eB@y either. They recommend that you don’t put a reserve on things that are less expensive, and not to make a too-high opening bid. On the things I put on there, price ranges from $11 to $20, I’m disturbed to say I’ve only got a couple of $.99 or $1.99 bids so far. I think I’m going to learn a hard lesson. On my more expensive items, I did put a low bid minimum and a reserve price so hopefully that will sell for the amount I want. I saw how that was going pretty quick, so I decided to go into any of the items that didn’t have watchers or bidders and go ahead and change it so that I had a reserve or minimum bid that was closer to what I want to make on the item, and if they don’t sell, then they don’t sell, but I am not sending off a $15 product for $1.99. Know what I mean?
Like I said before, I have about $1400 in products still to move out of here, I was kind of hoping eB@y would be a solution. We’ll see.
I have a lot of cleaning to do this afternoon, and a grocery trip to get staples. So I’m outtie!
